Colonel Milind (Balkrishna) Kelkar, Ram's older brother, passed away in Shimla on February 4 due to cardiac arrest. Milind was a very special person to us, and we looked up to him and had great hopes of continuing to see his progress as one of the most promising senior officers in the Indian Army, but we have to bow to God's will. May his soul rest in peace. Please join us in conveying heartfelt condolences to Rani (Mrs. Jayanti) Kelkar, to our mother Maa, and to Neel, who has been bravely helping his mother and family cope with the bereavement. Col. Balkrishna V. Kelkar passed away on exactly the same day - the 4th of February - as our paternal grandfather, Raosaheb Balkrishna V. Kelkar. Raosaheb Kelkar (Dada) had a very illustrious career in the Indian Police Force, where he was honored as the very first Indian to become a senior police officer (DSP) during the British Raj. Milind aspired to emulate Dada, who he admired greatly, and it is God's will that he too passed away on the 61st anniversary of Raosaheb B.V. Kelkar. Click here to read the condolence book ... and here for more on Col. B.V. Kelkar.
